Wesley College appoints a new Director of Programs from Oriel College at the University of Oxford

George Connolly joins Wesley with extensive international experience working in senior leadership positions across the residential college sector in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

George has most recently served as the inaugural Director of International Programmes and Partnerships at Oriel College at the University of Oxford, establishing and leading the College’s portfolio of global engagement.

The Master, Lisa Sutherland, said, “George is the perfect fit for the Director of Programs role at Wesley College. His work at Oriel College in leading extramural academic programs and establishing world-class learning experiences will help to enrich the academic, community and extracurricular programs at Wesley.

His passion for working in collegiate education will be invaluable as he engages and leads our student community, bringing an international perspective and integral work experience to the Director of Programs role.”

George has held senior roles at independent university colleges at both the University of Durham in the UK and the University of Otago in New Zealand.

He is a member of the Collegiate Way International Advisory Board and brings experience from organisational development consulting and not-for-profit governance. He holds an MBA and honours degree in Anatomy, both from the University of Otago.

George will officially begin in the role of Director Programs on 5 August for the start of Semester 2 and will be joined in residence at Wesley by his partner, Alice.
