What an exciting game to witness as St John’s and Wesley College battled it out in the 2026 Rawson Cup basketball final. Both teams came into the match undefeated, with star players, strong sporting pedigrees and plenty to play for.

Wesley came out firing in front of a packed Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre, setting the pace and leading throughout the opening quarter. Both teams fought fiercely for possession and every opportunity, with the action matched by deafening support from the sidelines.

In the fourth quarter, Wesley lifted the intensity, with Ben Williams weaving his magic on the court. At the final whistle, and with hearts racing, Wesley College emerged victorious, sealing an impressive 88–80 win.

It was a fantastic team performance, with standout contributions across the court. Special mention must go to Ben Williams, who delivered a record-breaking performance to finish as the competition’s top scorer with an extraordinary 51 points.

The celebrations continued that same week, with Wesley’s Women’s Basketball team securing a highly commendable second place against St. Andrew’s College in the coveted Rosebowl competition, showcasing tremendous skill, athleticism and determination.

Across both teams, Wesley’s players demonstrated the very best of College sport - coming together with team spirit, determination and plenty of heart. And, as always, the crowd was right there with them, bringing passionate and unwavering support from the sidelines.

It’s been a fantastic series on the court for both our teams, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements. We look forward to celebrating their success in the weeks ahead!
