It's 1974, five years into co-education, the College reflects a dynamic blend of people and ideas - a vibrant and progressive community ledby a forward-thinking Master.

The 70s were filled with memorable moments: garden parties beneath the jacarandas, formals where The Harbour City Jazz Band and Blatant Outrage set the tone, and Sunday night concerts echoing through the Crypt. The White Horse beer garden was a favourite gathering spot, and the quirky Annual Wesley Turtle Round-Up drew crowds to the pond for some light-hearted tradition.

Sporting life thrived, especially with intercol events now co-ed. Wesley’s women made a bold mark - claiming multiple titles over theyears including winning netball, and celebrating Tennis wins with VD’s (victory dinners).

Meanwhile, the Rawson soccer team achieved a milestone ten consecutive championship wins, cementing their dominance on the field. Rawson athletes also fought hard across rugby and cricket on the iconic No.1 Oval. With the exception of Golf and Squash, majority of intercol sports remained the same for both men’s and women’s teams then as they do now.

Culture was equally celebrated, with Wesleyan actors showcasing their talent in The Zoo Story and The Apollo de Bellac, both performed over three nights. These productions highlighted the creative energy that pulsed through the College.

And as a legacy to the students of that era, the college built a new wing - appropriately named ‘New Wing’ (what is now known as Sutherland Wing), designed by Architect Bruce Pryor (fr 1956) which provided four levels of accommodation at the southern end of the building.
