The annual Wesley Parents’ Weekend is always a highly anticipated fixture on the College calendar. A chance for families to reconnect, for new friendships to be forged and for our parents and students to enjoy Wesley’s infamous hospitality – all against a backdrop of Spring sunshine and inspired performances by our talented College musicians.

This year’s festivities kicked off with a Friday twilight chapel service, followed by outstanding student performances, and canapes in the courtyard. And on Saturday, over 500 students and parents congregated on the lawn for a ‘golden’ garden party, full of lively discussion and laughter, and serenaded by our resident kookaburra and the enchanting strains of a talented harpist.

In her heartfelt chapel address, Master Lisa J Sutherland invited visiting parents to take time away from the busyness of their lives ‘to connect and catch up, to take yourself back to your student days, or imagine them, reminisce, and be invested in this special time together’. It was a thought-provoking service, inviting the congregation to reflect on their roles within our values-driven community, where positivity, honesty and a commitment to learning are deeply valued and encouraged, both within and beyond the College gates.

As Sunday morning brought a more relaxed close to the weekend, families gathered over coffee and cake before farewelling friends and making the journey home. More than simply a celebration on the College calendar, Parents’ Weekend is a reminder of the enduring connections that make the Wesley community so special – bringing together generations of families, strengthening friendships and creating moments that will be remembered long after the weekend has ended.
