The Australian Boat Race  & China Update 2019

The Australian Boat Race (held annually) between Melbourne University and the University of Sydney will take place on the Yarra River on Saturday, 12 October 2019.

Wesley College will have a strong presence at the highly regarded regatta with our winning Rosebowl crew due to go head-to-head with Ormond College from Melbourne University.

In the ‘main event’ (the Women’s Eight race for the Bella Guerin Cup), Wesley will also be represented, with current collegians Jaime Ford and Tahlia Barnet racing the longer 4.5km event.

Four Wesleyans were recently part of the successful Sydney University Boat Club tour to Hangzhou, China, for the 2019 ‘Campus Sports Series- River Rowing Race’.

The crew claimed championship titles in both the ‘Hangzhou-West Lake’ and ‘Quzhou Quijiang’ stages of the series, as well as winning the ‘Hangzhou indoor rowing championships’.

Our fabulous rowers were Georgie Smith, Bianca Gillet, Lucy Coleman and coxswain Eliza Fessey.
