1970's Dinner B&B Reunion 14 Feb 2009
Wow, what a night. I have had emails pouring in over the last couple of weeks letting me know what a fantastic time they had. I, as Development Manager had the great pleasure of meeting such a wonderful group of people and boy, do the 70's clan know how to party. After dinner many went up into the JCR for more drinks and a dance to a Juke Box with a download of 70's music. I was there until 2:30am and I was told that there were some brave few that lasted until 4am.
I would like to thank Jim FitzSimons Fr '76, Chair of Foundation, and Deborah Edwards Fr '76 for their untiring help in locating many lost Old Cols and for providing the slide show and the many photos that were displayed on the night. I would also like to mention how impressed I was with the lasting friendships of the 1970's Old Cols and the response that I received when I sent out a missing Old Cols list. You managed to organize a few tables and also helped decrease the great list of Missing Old Cols from our database.
Thank you to all those who attended, because without you, it would never have been a successful event. I hope to see you all again at the Foundation Annual Reunion Dinner which is always on the 2nd Saturday of September. This year being Sat 12 Sept 2009.
Thank you to Amr Marzouk Fr '74 and Lily Tan for taking photo's on the night. To view these photo's please click here.

Graduate Connections Breakfast
Graduate Connection Breakfasts are initiated by The University of Sydney and
take place four times every year and enable Alumni to kick start their workday, by catching up with old and new Alumni friends and colleagues, over a delicious breakfast with plenty of 'food for thought'.
The series features orations by University of Sydney alumni who inspire, inform and invite discussion. Wesley College supports these events by reserving a table so if you would like to attend, please request that you join the "Wesley Table".
The next Breakfast will be on Wed 1 July 2009 and we have reserved 2 tables because the special guest speaker of the morning is Prof Penny Pether, speaking on 'How America got the bad common law'. Prof Penny is a Wesley Old Col from 1976-1979 and we know that these tables will fill quickly so don't delay with your RSVP.
Breakfasts are held on a weekday at a convenient Sydney CBD location starting at 7:15am, enabling guests to arrive at their place of work by 9:00am.
Prices are $45 for Alumni, Staff and Students of the University, $50 for Friends or Guests and tables of eight can be booked for $320. Attendance is by prior registration and payment only.

| What is The Foundation? |
The Foundation was established
by the College Council in 1989 to provide a funding
source independent of student fees which can contribute
to the ongoing development of the College.
The Foundation is managed by a Management Committee
consisting of five elected members, a representative
of the Council and the Old Collegians Association and
the Principal. |
| |
| What Does The Foundation
Do? |
The Overseas Study Program
was authorised by the Wesley College Council and established
in 1993 under the aegis of the Wesley College Foundation.
The program has been developed in line with the objectives
of The University of Sydney to establish links with
tertiary institutions in Asia and the Pacific.
Two-month study sessions in Vietnam are organised for
selected students from Wesley College. The sessions
are presently subsidised by the College, with students
contributing one-quarter of the cost.
The process begins with a small group of students and
a group leader being selected. They undertake preparatory
courses in aspects such as the language, training course.
A short familiarisation tour follows, and then each
student independently engages in prearranged activities
based on their academic and career interests.
On returning to Australia, the students apply their
experience to foster further development of the program.
They also assist with the exchange program, acting as
host for students and academics from Vietnam who visit
the College. |

| How can I Contribute To the
Foundation? |
- You can choose the area you wish to support by donating to programs such as our scholarship, building fund or Overseas Study Program. Donation forms are also enclosed with the Wesley Update Newsletters or if you would like to make a donation by fax or email please click here. All donations to the Wesley College Foundation are tax deductible.
- By making a bequest to the Wesley College Foundation. If you are leaving a percentage of your estate or a residuary amount to Wesley College in your Will, we ask that you let us know, so that we can recognise and thank you. Bequestors who inform us of their intentions, will be invited to become Cull Fellows. The Cull Fellowship is named in honour of Fred and Ada Cull's contribution to the College from 1917-1942.
- By attending our Faculty Dinners to offer professional and academic advice to our students and young Old Collegians. We invite you to support younger Wesleyans by mentoring and networking. The Master, Rev. David Russell, invites graduates to become visiting members of the Senior and Middle Common Rooms at Wesley. Our aim is that every student leaves Wesley with a Foundation mentor to support them in their chosen field.
- By donating any texts or books you have written or edited, to the College Library. Our Librarian, Douglas Brown is supervising the Old Cols Collection in the Senior Common Room and will be organising special displays of individual author's works in the Student Library.
