I would love to be there tonight
and have a few drinks with everyone - hope more turn up tonight
than did at the UK based Wesley re-union last summer!
My time at Wesley was really important to me - more so than
I realised and probably acknowledged at the time, too busy
using Wesley as a base-camp for all the great things that
Sydney Uni had going on at the time. But hey, Wesley gave
that Uni the best Formals and Informals, we were great with
the Rose Bowl and I will never forget the true class turn-outs
that were the Garden Parties!!
" Good memories of formal Monday dinners, inviting tutors
and even the Chancellor to Academic Dinner (and he came -
brave man Sir Herman!), Rose Bowl dinners, and sports dinners
that went on well into the night with Stu leading the singing
around the kegs in the courtyard bar.
" Special times with the residents of the basement back
in 83 as freshers, then moving upwards through the food chain
to the first floor landing and balcony rooms.
" Fond hellos and hugs to the freshers of 83 - Jo Gray,
George A, Paul, Andrew Inwood, Megan, Rosemary McFarlane and
the year above who were such great fun- Ringer and Paul, Rosey,
Poddy and his crew - and then there is Sarah Inwood, Ali,
Kimberley, god it goes on! Enough to make me want to be there
tonight.
" I'm based in the UK, working for CAB International
- an international government agency that works with sustainable
development across the world. I'm the Assistant Director,
Development and Donor Liaison - so if you work for CSIRO or
AusAID or ACIAR, their the Australian connections for us.
Surprisingly married to Mark Holderness, from the UK - a senior
policy maker in third world agricultural issues, with 2 kids
- Madeleine 7 and Tom 4. Living in Maidenhead and still after
13 years finding the UK the most expensive place on the planet!
" Sydney Uni has UK Alumni Association, which holds
a very serious summer drinking session - so I do get to catch
up with the University and even a small handful of Old, Colls
- Johnno and Catherine - vets to the world!
" Still noisy, smartarsed and loud - not much change
there then.
Cheers, and love to all
